The Family Forest Carbon Program is an ambitious collaboration between the American Forest Foundation and The Nature Conservancy that aims to engage a previously untapped climate solution. The Family Forest Carbon Program implements Improved Forest Management - the second largest potential natural climate solution in the U.S. - across family forest lands using an innovative forest carbon accounting methodology.
Beyond developing a critical carbon solution, the Family Forest Carbon Program supports rural American families and will improve biodiversity and forest health. The impact is measurable and trusted - funding creates the right to a future Verified Carbon Unit, each of which represents 1 metric ton of Carbon Dioxide Equivalents removed from the atmosphere when retired.
The project is verified by carbon project registry Verra.
